Not on the chocolate alone

The most familiar and beloved combination in chocolate packages is the combination of chocolate and wine. Both wine and chocolate go through a fermentation phase and both play an important role in social events and celebrations.

If you are interested in knowing which wine to drink with which type of chocolate, then you will know that there are two methods for this, the most recommended way to connect a box of chocolates you received to the right wine is according to a match based on similar flavors, for example chocolate with strong and noticeable flavors together with wine with a presence, delicate chocolate together with delicate wine.

Another way to connect chocolate to wine is exactly the opposite, that is, to find the taste and its opposite, so that the wine will not be identical in strength to the taste of chocolate but complementary to it, for example dominant chocolate with delicate wine.

Most experts on the subject recommend following the first method, i.e. matching based on similarity rather than difference, but we'll leave that to your consideration.

However, if you decide to go for an imaginative-based match, you will know that these are the types of wines that are suitable for the common types of chocolates-

With dark chocolate: semi-dry red wine or fruity wine, the more cocoa there is – the less sweet and more enriched and dark wine you need.

With white chocolate: dry red wine or sparkling white wine

With milk chocolate: red wine such as Pinot Noir or Merlot, medium consistency and relatively fruity taste
