Preparation
Into a medium metal bowl (which can be heated on the fire) pour . A glass of milk and sift over the cornstarch. Whisk until the cornstarch is dissolved and then add the sugar and yolks and continue whisking until you get a uniform batter.
In a small saucepan with a thick bottom, put 2 cups of milk and the vanilla stick and bring to a gentle boil. Remove the vanilla stick, scrape the grains out of it into the milk and keep the stick aside.
While stirring incessantly in a whisk, add in a thin stream the hot milk to the yolk batter, and place the bowl on the fire. Keep stirring until the batter comes to a boil — about 3 minutes. If we used a vanilla stick, now put it back into the batter. Remove the batter from the heat and pass it through a thin metal sieve into a bowl.
Add the dark chocolate to the batter. Bring the remaining glass of milk to a boil and add it to the batter and chocolate as well. Wait about 1 minute until the chocolate melts and stir until you get a smooth liquid. Pour into cups for hot drinks and serve hot. Make whipped cream from the heavy cream and place it generously on top of each cup.
You can add flavors to the drink — cinnamon, ginger, marshmallows, etc. The dark chocolate can be replaced with milk or white chocolate.
